Derailment of the Flying Scotsman in 1926
[edit]Col J W Pringle carried out the inquiry into the derailment of the Flying Scotsman on the 27th May 1926. A copy of his report OPSI license no. C02W0005088 was obtained by me from the National Archives for a book I wrote in 2010 about the derailment and conviction and jailing of 8 miners from Cramlington Northumberland Michael Stockham 82.41.128.191 (talk) 10:20, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I presume you mean the accident on 10 May 1926, the report for which was published on 27 May 1926. It's the first one listed in this search query. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:55, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- We also have mentions in:
- 1926 United Kingdom general strike#General strike, May 1926 (paragraph beginning "On 11 May 1926, the Flying Scotsman was derailed")
- Cramlington#History (paragraph beginning "Cramlington was the site of two rail accidents.")
- Cramlington railway station#Accidents and incidents (shows 26 May 1926)
- List of rail accidents (1920–1929)#1926 (entry for May 26, i.e. 26 May 1926)
- London and North Eastern Railway#Accidents (entry for 12 May 1926)
- As may be seen, there is disagreement about the date. I rather think that Col. Pringle, who states
the derailment of a passenger train on the 10th May, about 2 p.m., between Annitsford and Cramlington Stations
, is definitive. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:43, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
