This article looks like it was written by John Burton's press agent. "The cumulative impact of his leadership is enormous."? Aaronrp 18:54, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Turns out some of that text was taken directly from the John Burton Foundation website. It's gone now. I think this is an improvement. Aaronrp 23:30, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is he a democrat?

[edit]

What is his political orientation? I'm guessing he is a democrat.

Yes, the Chroncle article mentions this in passing. I've added it to the text. aaronrp 23:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Controversies

[edit]

Need citations. Besides his recent remarks regarding Paul Ryan, all of the sentences regarding the sexual harassment suit do not have footnotes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmbarth (talkcontribs) 15:46, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First election to congress

[edit]

Burton won a special election to congress, taking his seat on June 4, 1974. The Infobox was correct, but not the text. Naval Reserve Admiral Bill Mailliard resigned in March '74 and the seat was filled by Burton in a crowded special election. He also won the Democratic party at the same time, and won the general election for the seat in November 1974. I found lots of citations, but none from newspapers, after going through about 50 URLs. I'll keep looking, for a newspaper cite, or will use a book if I can't find a paper. Activist (talk) 14:20, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
