Stubbed from copyvio
[edit]I've stubbed this article from a copyvio. I've linked the source that was originally used, so someone can rewrite an article using that source and other ones. Carcharoth (talk) 18:14, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Chlorine
[edit]There is a mistaken statement regarding discovery of Chlorine (Cl). Chlorine was discovered by Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1774. He thought that it contained oxygen. "Chlorine" was given its name by Humphry Davy in 1810.

Agree + deleted section. It is described quite clearly in chlorine; Kawarayaki (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:24, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

"Franz August Wolf"
[edit]A "Franz August Wolf" is widely credited as advisor of S. (Mathematics Genealogy etc). There is no evidence for this in any paper-based source in particular not in his dissertation "de Diomede Homeri" (which can be found in digitized form on the net) where tribute is given to Proff. Harleß, Pfeiffer, Seiler and F.C.L.Schweigger, his father. The misinterpretation is probabely due to the fact that the theme of his PhD relates to work by Fr.Aug.Wolf = Friedrich August Wolf who did not work in Erlangen at all and at no time worked at the same place as S.
