Speedy deletion

[edit]

I believe that his page does not qualify for the "Criteria of Speedy Deletion" because it is information that a fan or reader of Farworld may wish to know about the author or book. It makes it easier to learn about upcoming books, past, or current books. Although, it does not have much information about the author himself yet. But I believe that a Wikipedia page is somewhere where more information can be added by other knowing participants. Please do not delete this page. Tuffy232 (talk) 00:33, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the individual fails WP:BIO. ttonyb1 (talk) 00:36, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Would I be allowed to change this page into a page about the Farworld series? Tuffy232 (talk) 00:38, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You should rather start a seperate article about the book series, but please have a look at WP:Your first article and WP:Notability (books) first. In particular, if you can, try to add references that can estabilsh notability of the book series with your first edit to the page. If it has been subject of in-depth coverage by reliable third-party sources, please add that to the article. Otherwise it might be deleted again in the future.

Would a nomination for an award help toward notability? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tuffy232 (talkcontribs) 01:43, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It would help, but by itself it would need to be a major award. From what I've seen when I researched the book previously, you're thinking about the "Cybilis Award 2009"? From a glance that didn't seem like a notable award to me. The best way is always to show "significant coverage in independent reliable secondary sources". If there is no such coverage, then a topic is often seen as not yet notable enough for encyclopaedic inclusion.
This is not something Tony or I are deciding though. If you're convinced that the series is already big and important enough for an encyclopaedic entry then feel free to start the article, but please be prepared that a consensus of editors might come to a different conclusion.
I hope that helps, feel free to keep asking if you want to know more. Cheers, Amalthea 01:53, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help! I'll be sure to consider all of this the next time I create a page. Maybe I'll wait until he has a little more notability. Tuffy232 (talk) 01:58, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
