Website Broken

[edit]

It appears his website no longer exists at the domain jasonlezak.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:246:8380:E56:6198:A171:2E8A:ED88 (talk) 19:04, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tone

[edit]

Before removing the tone tag again please note the paragraph tagged does not read like a Wikipedia article but rather like an SI sports story. Examples: "powering them to a gold medal"; "smashing the world record" (just say by how much they beat it); "he ran down French anchor-swimmer..." And the quote from the French just belongs in Olympics sports commentators comments not the Wiki article for Jason Lezak. - Ageekgal (talk) 18:31, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IMO the Alain Bernard quote is reasonable to provide context for Lezak's accomplishment, but it shouldn't be blown out of proportion here. It's more central to Bernard's article since it involves his words. I agree that encyclopedic tone is most appropriate. - PhilipR (talk) 05:17, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It reads much improved now. Kudos to you and/or others who fleshed it out further. - Ageekgal (talk) 14:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relay splits

[edit]

I noted the edit based on FINA not recognizing WRs for relay splits. However, article on the official site which is used as a source for World record progression 100 metres freestyle seems to imply otherwise. That article and this one appear out of sync, because Eamon Sullivan is apparently considered the recordholder based on yesterday's relay performance. - PhilipR (talk) 05:17, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

only the first legs of relays can be counted for records in their corresponding individual events because the later guys are not doing a stationary start, whereas the first guy is doing it in a stationary start as they would in a normal individual race. Assessment comment

[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Jason Lezak/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

"The victory was particularly satisfying to Americans, as Bernard had issued inflammatory statements prior to the event, stating that the French team would "smash them" in the race."

It is ridiculous...

Hopefully I'm doing this right, I just signed up. I wanted to point out a mistake in the article. It says the French finished behind the American 4x100 relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by 8 TENTHS of a second, it was actually 8 hundredths of a second. Also, I agree that the comment above should be added to the post, the comments by Bernard and the french team are relevant to the story! Rebekka.rohrback (talk) 13:55, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
