Italian Catholic
[edit]I think that the information of his Italian Catholic decend contradicts with the information about his strong advocacy for Israel. But the Italian thing is also found on his profile in IMDB.
- He's an Italian-American Catholic. See this interview [1]. However, I wouldn't trust the IMDB - in this case, they were right, but they are often very wrong. JackO'Lantern 23:03, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed, I have read he is of Italian descent, but is he anything else? His surname is certainly not Italian. Michael 20:42, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- It's not quite clear, but he's always been referred to as an "Italian Catholic" and nothing else. I suppose they could've changed their last name. Mad Jack 06:22, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I presume that is possible. I haven't found anything explaining it, though. Michael 05:01, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- well I see y'all have balls don't you 2607:FB91:8C0:65AA:AC39:C392:840E:A62B (talk) 22:25, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

One idea would be to list him as being "Roman Catholic" which would be technically correct (as he is certainly only belonging to the Roman Rite, which therefore makes him a Roman Catholic) whilst side-stepping the entire race-issue. This of course is also applicable when dealing with so-called Irish-Catholic, and so forth... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.150.110.180 (talk) 12:25, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
"Biggs" is't an Italian name. Perhaps only his mother (Angela) is italian, but father is smth. else — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.4.237.4 (talk) 19:10, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Jason Biggs is also of English descent. He mentions it during an interview with Kevin Pollak (KPCS: Jason Biggs #145): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5lQwqTTIx0&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLCE7A726842B6DC80
He mentions his English ancestry at 0:32:38- 0:33:10. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.174.68.21 (talk) 18:58, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

"Pie F--ker"

edit/revision war
[edit]There seems to be a bit of an edit/revision war going on right now about Mr Biggs having to do with some tweets that he made that were considered by many to be in poor taste and derogatory towards women and Christians Especially Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney's wives [1] [2] [3] [4] and a recent movement to have the Kids network Nickelodeon fire him from doing the voice on their new TMNT revival. I figured it would be more productive to bring the discussion here rather then vandalizing the page. Do the other editors here agree that something about the controversy should be mentioned on the page or should it be ignore entirely. It does seem to be well sourced and notable at this point.
His comments meet the criteria for notability and can be addressed with a neutral point of view. The revision history shows that changes to the page were not neutral. I would use your introduction to the issue as a starting point, "During the 2012 Republican National Convention, Jason Biggs created controversy with a number of tweets that were considered by many to be in poor taste and derogatory towards women and Christians, including the wives of Republican nominees Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.[5] [6] [7] [8] The reaction to this controversy included a movement to have Biggs removed from the TMNT revival by Nickelodeon.[9]" Clivejameson (talk) 15:17, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Citations need to go with the paragraph, not here in the talk area. Ebt66 (talk) 11:44, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
From What I read of his comments he didn't address women in general and then include the nominees wives or vice versa. He just went straight to talking about the nominees wives. So the article should read that he made derogatory statements towards the nominees' wives not that he made derogatory statements towards women. The humors certainly crude, but crude humor doesn't necessitate sexism, or bigotry of any type. His statements were directed at specific people. They didn't have anything to do with groups of people. It's not like he denoted or implied women were less intelligent or inferior or should be limited to certain roles in society; that would be sexist if he did denote or imply any one of those things (sexist, not misogynist which literally means "hatred of women"). I only read the tweets from the cited sources on this page, but I didn't see any violent comments either. Sexually suggestive or crude does not equal violence nor does it equal the promotion of violence. If the description on this page just failed at being neutral and was full of pejoratives like "in poor taste" than that wouldn't be so bad but (going off of the cited sources on the wikipedia page) some of the descriptions seem to be factually inaccurate. Words like misogynistic and violent actually have clear and fairly unambiguous meanings and I don't think they apply here. I don't know why people confuse sexual crude statements with sexism. Just because he made a vulgar commentary about someone doesn't mean he commented that they have less intelligence, emotional capacity, rational thought or that they should have limited roles or rights in society due to their sex. Megyn Kelly said "call it sexist", "call it what it is". I can't do both because what it was is not sexist. It's crude certainly. Going off the films he's been in, he probably just finds it humorous that so many people have such delicate sensibilities that anything crude is automatically considered offensive and bigoted (automatically being the operative word). How are his comments even that insulting let alone violent, misogynistic (I think they meant sexist),sexist, or bigoted. Does he state that they have inferior qualities, abilities, that they are irrational, or that they have poor character? I can understand sexual comments making someone uncomfortable...people don't talk about it much and have a tendency to visualize a little too much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.178.2.64 (talk) 09:21, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
Question about Twitter controversy
[edit]I know it was almost six months ago, but I thought about bringing up the inappropriate Jason Biggs twitter content since it was controversial.[2] High School Musical 3 talks about the nude photos of Vanessa Hudgens, which is also brought up on her Wikipedia page. That controversy came to my mind again when I watched her in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island the other day. Should the Twitter comments by Biggs be discussed? Sb1990 (talk) 21:10, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Well Gilbert Gottfried's page has a section on his controversial jokes. So I don't see how this is any different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.182.44.114 (talk) 19:04, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

"Considered by many to be in poor taste..."
[edit]Lol. Talk about being biasd. Can you please find ONE person who does not find these tweets to be in poor taste? As when you say "many", do you mean 'there might be some who think they are in good taste'? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.251.40.254 (talk) 17:54, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Sadly enough, there are plenty of people (such as many of his twitter followers) who think this is in perfectly fine taste.
Anymouse (talk) 23:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Different take. Precisely because Biggs thought the comments would be in poor taste that he tweeted as he did. Same reasons why so many "celebrities" talk dirty/foul/vulgar language. Know that's slightly out of topic. But can't resist. 69.155.128.163 (talk) 09:56, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
I understand that a lot of you are butthurt that he would dare talk down to Christians and conservatives, but for the sake of Wikipedia and attempts to remain neutral and objective, this section does need a ton of revision. Saying that many consider his tweets to be in poor taste is objective because there are people legitimately entertained by his tweets, and others who could not care less.
On top of that, let's stop pretending there is any "controversy" tied to his tweets. There is little publicity (and rightfully so, since there are better things to worry about) about this imagined attack on people's sensibilities, and any implications that they are controversial is blowing this out of proportion.
At the same time, it would be better to not outright call his words "misogynistic", "obscene", and "sexually violent", and instead use an appropriate adverb.
TL;DR: act like adults editing an encyclopedia, not a bunch of brats complaining because Biggs said something mea. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.42.218.73 (talk) 06:44, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
There is an error with this article
[edit]Folks,
This article for Jason Biggs (American Pie) has been partially merged with the page for Steve McFadden (English TV actor). Steve McFadden does indeed play the role of Phil Mitchell in the English TV sitcom 'East Enders', not Jason Biggs.
I'm new to Wikipedia so I do not know how to correct so please can someone restore / update with the correct Jason Biggs bio data. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riptide-420 (talk • contribs) 20:52, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Last name English
[edit]What is the point of stating the obvious that "His last name is derived from his English ancestry". Of course it is, as Biggs is clearly an English not an Italian name, and his mother was Italian, not his father.Royalcourtier (talk) 04:56, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
