West Australian footballer?
[edit]A bit pedantic perhaps, but should the disambiguation be (Western Australian footballer)? Hack (talk) 00:30, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- My fault really. I moved "Jack K. Clarke" to "Jack Clarke (footballer)" because I hate the use of initials as disambiguators unless absolutely necessary, not realising there was another footballer with the same names, Jack E. Clarke. Jenks24 then rightfully moved it to the current title. I'd personally suggest Jack Clarke (footballer, 1931–1997) and Jack Clarke (footballer, 1933–2001), though, with the benefit of hindsight, the initials look a bit tidier. - It was actually me who moved it, and I guess I chose West, not Western as that matches the League's name. As for the dab choice of middle initial vs state/country vs DOB, I think the most well known item should be used, as long as it still isn't ambiguous. I really don't like the year of birth, as most people won't know that before they read the article. In this case, the main distinguishing feature between the two Clarkes is where they come from - should Jack E. be moved to (Victorian footballer)? It may not always work - ie Mark Williams/Peter Bell can't really be identified by state as they all moved around a lot - Is Choco from SA (Port coach/player), Vic (Coll player), Qld (Bears player) or NSW (GWS assist coach) so date of birth is the only real option left.
