Baseball championship
[edit]The article had claimed the school's baseball team was the 1984 national champion. I removed that because there is not such thing as a high school national championship for baseball today or in 1984. Kendrafun (talk) 19:13, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]Whoever is changing the mascot to "Pygmy Goat" obviously is vandalizing. The picture has a horse in it, and that is right out in front of our school, not to mention all over our clothes. I added a link to the school band, because it needed it.
tate history
[edit]davian needs to stay with a subject he is more an expert on as he is a graduate of pensacola high! 1980 History of tate is not relevant? How about 1880 georgia tech????????? you put to much of you own opinion into your edits instead of going with the facts and general concensus! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Knowledgebase11 (talk • contribs) 03:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC).
- Sports history of a high school is not usually notable enough to be encyclopedic. Exceptions would apply to those which are mentioned in mainstream historical texts or have become a part of popular culture. A brief mention of national championships won by the school would be acceptable, as this accomplishment would be considered notable on a larger scale. However, the information about state championships, former star players (unless they went on to play for the NFL or a notable NCAA team) and specific games won in a season 27 years ago would not count as notable or encyclopedic.
- Also, the history of a school's sports teams by no means comprises the whole of any school's history. At most, it would be a brief subsection following other subsections regarding the school's founding, strong community affiliations (if any), notable programs (was it the first in the area to have a certain kind of educational program, perhaps?), notable graduates (inventors, entrepreneurs, political leaders, famous athletes?), etc. Get the idea, now?
