I love Encanto, I'll take this one—article is new enough, long enough, neutral, and plagiarism-free. I'm concerned about using Buzzfeed as a source, it's not the best—could this be cleared up? In other news, hook is cited (make sure to cite inline in the article!) and interesting, and a QPQ has been done, so we're nearly there! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 09:21, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Since, according to RSP, BuzzFeed has a highly inconsistent reliability, I guess we should judge in case-by-case basis. The fact is sourced to an Instagram post by Scott Watanbe (a visual development artist), so I think it's acceptable, given his role in the film. Lemme know what you think. Please give me 1 reason why this article should not be speedily deleted, this is ridiculous. We can keep Mirabel and Bruno, but we're now adding Isabela and this makes no sense. She hardly gets any screen time, and if she should stay, we have to make an article for Luisa. Then we have to make another for Camilo. Camilo and Luisa are not notable, so why is Isabela considered notable? This is not making any sense. SteelerFan1933 (talk) 14:40, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Support There should be a list of Encanto characters. This isn't a franchise yet and therefore Mirabel and Bruno having articles is already an extreme stretch. There is no information on Felix Madrigal on Wikipedia, so it would solve that problem too. SteelerFan1933 (talk) 15:47, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As you (I presume) know, for an article to exist, it must be notable. Isabela has an article because the character is notable; there are independent sources that discuss her character, distinct from sources that just talk about Encanto in general, such as [4] and [5]. More importantly, in my personal opinion, there are things to say about her specifically beyond a plot summary. The same is true for Mirabel and Bruno, which is why they each have articles; and these requirements are not met for other characters, which is why they don't have articles.
I'm not opposed to a List of Encanto characters article, but the important thing is that it has to demonstrate notability for that list; see WP:NLIST. A start would be to make sure that it is not solely a plot summary of the characters and not solely an expansion of Encanto (film)#Voice cast; maybe add a reception or development section? Or at the very least, make sure there are a good number of sources and unique info that isn't anywhere else; that's what makes other list of characters articles work, imo. I also want to make sure we don't have a repeat of the creation and subsequent merger of Madrigal family. (Final note for other watchers: I see that a draft has been started at Draft:List of Encanto characters.) Aerin17 (t • c) 17:11, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think Isabela is notable. Sure, she has her own song, but 35% of the words include Mirabel, while Luisa's song is mostly her. What's more, Luisa got more screen time than Isabela. These 2 things prove that either Luisa needs an article, or Isabela's has to be deleted. SteelerFan1933 (talk) 18:57, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I like Erik's suggestion here, and I'll go take a stab at working on that draft. Before I do that, though, I will say that your logic isn't quite sound, SteelerFan, because what makes a character notable isn't whether they have their own song or how much screen time they have, but how much coverage there is of the character outside of the film itself. A few days ago, I found out that during an interview, Diane Guerro (hope I spelt her name right) claimed Isabela is a lesbian, but this isn’t information confirmed by Disney. I believe that Geurro’s claims and the fact that it’s unconfirmed should be included in the article; I would like to know what you guys think about this being in the article. 86.26.216.246 (talk) 13:08, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
