This article

[edit]

No offence to the good-faith contributors who have made it, but this article is in need of some serious help. I can maybe help with making some of the language more encyclopedic, but among other concerns, redlinks should only be used if three is a serious possibility of an article being written. I'll be back with more ideas when I can, but in the meantime if anybody felt like tidying it up I would be very grateful. --Guinnog 13:27, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted it to a stub for now. Any properly sourced and properly referenced material from earlier versions can be replaced at will. --Guinnog 14:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems like every time the origins of HipHop are talked about they classify it as originally an African-American thing when early HipHop, as now, isn't so easily broken down along racial/ethnic lines. There were definitely white kids involved since the beginning although maybe not enough to note...however if there is another ethnic group that should be noted it would be Puerto Ricans as there were probably just as many Puerto Ricans involved in early HipHop as were African-Americans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.20.196.231 (talk) 19:02, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete?

[edit]

There is precisely one act (Marxman) mentioned on this page notable enough to have its own article so far. Suggest a serious amount of work, or failing that, deletion as non-notable? BastunBaStun not BaTsun 22:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore the above comment. Knowledgeiskey is really turning the article around. BastunBaStun not BaTsun 09:51, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

One goes to 'Page not found', the other is a dead end and link to Paypal. Suggest this article is given up for dead and deleted. Emeraude 13:42, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No objection from me. I would say Scary Éire and Marxman are somewhat notable (whether they'd satisfy WP:MUSIC, I don't know. But the 'Present/Future of Irish Hip-hop' section should be removed if the article is kept - nothing notable, and bad wikilinks abound. BastunBaStun not BaTsun 19:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why has the reference to Dj Bosco and Rhymes Vital been deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sertone (talkcontribs) 12:58, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

Because its not encyclopedic. Please see the following policies: WP:CRYSTAL and WP:MUSIC. The information you have added to the article satisfies neither. Following the actual release of an album, the information could be included if it satisfies WP:MUSIC - not until then. I am going to remove it again - please do not readd it. Adding material - please read first!

[edit]

This is Wikipedia - the encyclopedia anyone can edit. That does not mean you can add anything you want! If you are adding anything to this article, please first read Wikipedia's 5 Pillars, what WP is not, and notability guidelines, especially WP:MUSIC. Material that does not satisfy these criteria is liable to be deleted at any time. BastunBaStun not BaTsun 14:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kool Kracker Krew

User:Canonxl2 - please read the above paragraph, including the linked policies and guidelines, before adding back material on Kool Kracker Krew. Youtube videos, a "closed broadcast" and a forthcoming album do not meet inclusion criteria. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 16:07, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed PROD

[edit]

@Padenton and Coffee: I have restored this article challenging the PROD. It is obviously a notable topic e.g. [1] [2] both published in the last 6 months. Yes the article is a mess, but that means it should be cleaned up not deleted. SmartSE (talk) 15:43, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And another today. SmartSE (talk) 12:23, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rejjie Snow

[edit]

Kind of strange that this article doesn’t mention Rejjie Snow, maybe the most successful Irish rapper ever. Bzweebl (talkcontribs) 19:32, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Graffiti?

[edit]

Graffiti is mentioned as hip-hip culture of which came to Ireland in the 80s. Is this entirely true? Graffiti is both older than hiphop and surely existed in Ireland before the 1980s. Tíocfaidh ár lá, Éire. (talk) 01:38, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

lets delete this

[edit]

its a 2 sentence article, not really enough IMO. Cube76 (talk) 00:49, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might be worth merging/redirecting to Irish rap --lijkel (talk) 10:46, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
