Accuracy of ICRO profile on Wikipedia

[edit]

I suggest that the ICRO committee and PRO should be consulted on any changes to detail to ensure acuracy

Links to Journalistic articles etc should be included with care as many of these are inaccurate and contain personal information which the named individuals may not have consented to.

Just a brief note to say that I have reverted your recent edits to this article because you have a declared COI and should only be requesting changes on the talk page and then waiting for other non-conflict users to approve and implement them for you.
If you have specific changes that you would like to request to the article text then please list the specific changes below (in the format "change x to y", etc.) for a non-conflicted user to review.
Many thanks, Axad12 (talk) 16:03, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, with regard to your edit summary on 9th November re: bringing about Less reliance on journalistic sources, please note that Wikipedia is based primarily on what secondary sources say (i.e. newspapers) rather than on what primary sources say (i.e. organisations themselves). This is a built-in and non-negotiable feature of the encyclopaedia, designed to reduce dependence of non-independent sources. Further detail here can be found in the relevant policies, WP:V and WP:RS. See also WP:PRIMARY and WP:SECONDARY.

Duly noted, Axad12
Thanks for these comments.
I will request additional changes be reviewed and approved by non-conflict users via the talk page.
It is challenging to provide reliable balanced newspaper sources for ICRO activities as Rescue incidents can often be reported on arguably in a sensationalised manner when they happen and often the journalists and editors do not fact check their own work before publishing.
I will however attempt to cite other reliable secondary sources such as government websites and open access publications.

ICRO Logo Change

[edit]
Irish Cave Rescue Organisation Logo 2024

Suggest a change in the logo to the one provided here.

This would reflect the ICRO Comittee approved logo from 2020 AdeEyto (talk) 19:08, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

as per ticket #2024111410007071. this updated version of the ICRO logo should be ok to replace the old one on the page AdeEyto (talk) 09:46, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the logo change but perhaps Axad12 (talk) can advise on how to reduce the size as it seem to be large in the desktop version? AdeEyto (talk) 15:24, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or perhaps Yann (talk) can advise on how to amend the logo size as per the File:ICRO2024.jpg Talk dicussion in the Wikipedia Commons? AdeEyto (talk) 15:29, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that I'm unable to advise on the sizing of images. I would suggest, however, that you refrain from editing the article directly as (a) you have a conflict of interest and (b) you do not have the competency to change images. Axad12 (talk) 15:30, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK Axad12 (talk) - I was advised by 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ in a separate talk on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Help_desk to change the old logo with File:ICRO2024.jpg after the 16th November as it has now gone through all the copyright approvals on Wiki Commons. I also placed the logo change topic in this talk on the 11th Nov. as advised to see if anyone without a COI had issues with the change.
I have asked 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ for advice on how to change the File:ICRO2024.jpg size. AdeEyto (talk) 15:42, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When a COI user places a COI edit request they should then wait until a non-conflicted user responds to it, you should not proceed in the absence of a response (or go seeking permission to proceed at another location).
In any event, when you changed the logo you changed it in such a way that the logo took up the entire screen, because it was not a change that you were competent to make. Therefore there were two reasons why you should not have made the change.
I do not intend to argue with you further on those points, as they are self-evident.
Personally I'm on the brink of unsubscribing from these threads and turning off notifications from you. Just post requests and then wait, it's easy. Axad12 (talk) 15:59, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Duly noted Axad12 (talk) , it is not my intent to argue with you or anyone else on this and I apologies if it came across in this way. On behalf of the voluntary ICRO committee I am merely attempting to understand how edits can be made to the page in the appropriate manner, since much of the existing information, including the logo, is inaccurate and/or out of date and therefore misrepresents ICRO .
I will wait and see if other non conflicted users respond as you suggest. Thanks again for your direction. AdeEyto (talk) 18:47, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"The rescue organisation has 100 members, including general members who are available to help in any situation and those who have specific skills to assist a rescue, such as first-aid training and the ability to rig a cave."

with

ICRO has 16 Wardens and ~50 Core team members who have specialist training and skills in cave rescue rigging, first aid, remote casualty care, communications and rescue management. ICRO also has ~100 general members who are available to help in the event that a rescue needs additional personnel.

"The organisation was previously funded by the Northern Ireland Mountain, Cliff and Cave Rescue Coordinating Committee (through Sport Northern Ireland and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure) and the Irish Coast Guard.

It is now funded by the Northern Ireland Department of Justice and a member of the Northern Ireland Search & Rescue Policy Group and the Northern Ireland Search & Rescue Practitioners Group."

ICRO is funded in Northern Ireland by the Department of Justice via Northern Ireland Search and Rescue (NI SAR)

In the Republic of Ireland it is funded by the Department of Transport and the Irish Coast Guard under the coordination of the National SAR Comittee (NSARC)

Take out the line breaks, the tildes and the external links, and provide refs. Then this might work.Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:23, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hopefully this 2nd version of #2 is sufficient?

Better. Anyone else have an opinion? (And you don't have to keep putting that template in, it's at the top of the talk page and that will suffice.)Sumanuil. (talk to me) 10:06, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
