Consumer-driven: The Catalyst for Integrative Thinking/Integrative Systems

[edit]

Based on my 32 years of experience with P&G, I believe integrative thinking comes from a commitment to be consumer-driven in every aspect of the business. With the ultimate aim [per A.G. Lafely] of winning at the 1st moment of truth [when the consumer purchases your product] and winning at the 2nd moment of truth [when the consumer uses your product, is delighted and purchases it again], you are launched into a clear, focused integrative thinking platform supported by robust systems and processes for sustainability. This platform is reviewed in my book "Supply Chain Management: The Real WOW Factor" and includes organizing all resources against integrated proccesses such as strategy engagement and enhanced business planning supported by a true consumer-driven supply network. With the entire organization [commercial, supply chain, product units, etc] focused on the 1st and 2nd moments of truth, process improvement and business transformation are accelerated. I believe the key organization integrative actions facilitating the acceleration are; developing a clear compelling business need [CBN], aligning the organization on a finite business scorecard, shelf price-back costing, consumer-driven supply chain design, and clear, concise action plans from the consumer/customer back [for the commercial, supply chain and product line organizations]. From my perspective, at least in the consumer products industry, this intregrative approach creates a win/win/win for your company, customers, and consumers.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts on this subject. --Wpeacejr (talk) 15:19, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
