When I arrived in an ARB I was S4 issued, among other things, infantry rope, blue neck scarf, blue discs(etc)
[edit]I wasn't the only one in HHC with a non-infantry MOS -- I knew several others with a signal corps MOS. We were 40 miles from the Fulda Gap in the early 1960s, so obviously the Army felt that when the Russkies shot out our signal equipment in their attack we would automatically become OJT infantrymen. When we did guard duty on Field Problems in Comrade's Forest not far from our Field CP (as in the S2 and S3 tracks) there's no way you could tell we weren't infantry AIT trained. I recall a FTX called Operation BIG LIFT (we were the aggressors north of Alsfeld I believe). REFORGER grunts were still in grade school. I am amazed that some folks think the late Oct 1962 Cuban Crisis had no effect on USAREUR (Why of course, just like in the Elvis GI Blues movie, we spent all those days club-hopping in Frankfurt). Our IN BN had two tracks customized by having 6 pods each in the back -- no, they weren't for mortar rounds. Their operators sometimes sang, "Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the Fulda Gap" whatever that means.
Allowed to wear
[edit]It used to be any enlisted man who was 11B/C and turned blue after AIT was always entitled to wear the cord. When did this change? 2A00:23C7:E287:1901:C8C1:1C64:216C:4E76 (talk) 20:18, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
It has not changed, US Army Reserve should have never been removed. From AR 670-1 "(e) Infantry officers and enlisted personnel in the Reserve Components, who hold an infantry PMOS or specialty." Also see 100th Infantry Battalion (United States) Preeeemo (talk) 18:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
Dress Uniform
[edit]Don't have the personal time to make the alterations and read through reg for sources, but the articles needs updates from the dress blues to the pink and greens. 69.113.117.122 (talk) 07:24, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
