"Indonesian"

[edit]

Theres something wrong with this statement

The migration of Indonesian to Malaysia can be traced back since before the colonial time especially during the Srivijaya and Majapahit administration

One must remember that the term "Indonesia" is a modern construct and only came to prominent following the Indonesian revolution in the early 20th century. Srivijayans and Majapahitans definitely were not Indonesians. In the same way, you cannot equate the modern Italians with those Romans of antiquity, "Italian" is a modern identity. Therefore, u cannot call descendants of immigrants from Pre-Indonesia Maritime Southeast Asia as 'Indonesian-descent'. There was no 'Indonesia' when their ancestors came to the peninsular.
