Former name: Gaupshtrasse

[edit]

The info box lists Gaupshtrasse as a former name (1918, 1941-1944), which looks like a peculiar mix of typos. Albeit other more far-fetched possibilities come to mind, it ought to be „Hauptstraße“ (German for main street), with the Г being transcribed as either G (Russian) or H (Belarusian), the Ш standing for German sch ([ʃ]), and the ss being a common (yet far from equal) replacement for the sharp s (ß). The Belarusian article states, «Во время немецкой оккупации 1918 года — Гауптштрассе.» Obviously, there is a t missing in any case, but I wonder if the occupier’s notation should be mentioned along the cyrillized version. -- Gohnarch 06:24, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
