Gaudy & NPOV
[edit]Hello everyone. To be the following statement is not NPOV. It appears someones opinion. Any thoughts? "European centers imitated the gaudy and consciously "barbaric" taste of "Imari" wares, first copied in faience at Delft in Holland. In the early 19th century, Chamberlain's factory at Worcester copied Imari "gaudy" ware." ThanxTheriac
- "Gaudy Ware" is a collectors' term that may not appear in the Chamberlain's Worcester archives. In the C18 the Japanese kilns at Arita produced wares specifically designed for export that were in gaudy European taste, unlike the wares made for home consumption. The "PoV" is more nuanced when it is better informed. --Wetman 16:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
References
[edit]The current references are insufficient. What are they? Books? Who is the publisher? They need to be either expanded or deleted. They are:
- Georges Le Gars, Imari, faïences et porcelaines du Japon, de Chine et d'Europe (Paris: Massin 2004)
- Georges Le Gars, Les Imari anglais (Paris: Massin 2007)
ThanxTheriac 13:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Formatted the titles. --Wetman 16:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Dear wikifriend ...yes that's right for this two references . I was very impressed by the " Les Imari anglais" . The publisher is : Massin, Paris ,for this two books. And you have 180 colors pages and the author is an expert . All the best . Tony .....................................................................................................

Imari Jar
[edit]I uploaded a picture of a large Imari jar found at my local library. You're welcome to use it in the article, if you think it should go there. I am curious if anyone can identify who Kanzo (the artist's name as given by the library) is, so I could possible upload it to the Commons, and I'm also curious if anyone thinks the high-quality pictures of the sides of the jar would be useful for Wikipedia/Commons.--Prosfilaes (talk) 00:37, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
The image at left "courtesy of Peach State Button Club.", though it is ceramic ware made at Arita (Arita porcelain), is confusing to the Wikipedia reader trying to gain an image of "Imari porcelain" from this article. I deleted it from the article and moved it here.--Wetman (talk) 00:15, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
