Olafsdottir or Olafsdotter?

[edit]

I wasn't sure myself (I can't find any instances of it being mentioned in the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI), but Google says 137 for "er" against 15 for "ir" - SoM 02:41, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It was in Super Friends with subsequent elements introduced in the DC Comics Presents teamup between Superman and the Global Guardians, which validated elements of the previous appearences. Netkinetic 07:28, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Fireicereunion.jpg

[edit]

Image:Fireicereunion.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Name

[edit]

There has been a purposed move for the past 2 mths on WP:Comics noticeboard. I wanted to quickly post a note of discussion, or rather contention to this move, due to clearly established naming convention guidlines. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 20:31, 15 June 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I say move it to Tora Olafsdotter.Brian Boru is awesome (talk) 00:11, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The page should stay where it is per WP:UCN. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:53, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
BBiA, could you please proved further insight for the reason you would like to see this article moved to Tora, and any reasons that would outweigh the common name of the character? -66.109.248.114 (talk) 04:34, 17 June 2008 (UTC).[reply]
Back in the day she was also known as Icemaiden. Brian Boru is awesome (talk) 23:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's not a legitimate reason. Do you have guidelines that support you? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:40, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am unclear on the origins and name of this character. If I understand correctly when they revealed the name of Icemaiden they didn't know she had already been named so fiddled it and called her "Ice"? So wouldn't one solution be to move it to "Icemaiden (Tora Olafsdotter)"? I suspect it is fine as it is as long as the article is clear - the guidelines are that we should use their best known name and that is Ice.
Looking at the chronological listing she appeared as Icemaiden from 1977-1988 in about 9 issues [1] and as Ice for 20 years and countless issues [2] - which demonstrates it isn't evenly balanced between the two names. (Emperor (talk) 01:37, 26 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Thought the hatnote's purpose was to explain this qualm, was it not? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:05, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what you mean - by its nature the hatnote can't go into much detail. It is the publication history (which isn't one really) which is either confusingly worded or I'm tired and not understanding it properly. (Emperor (talk) 03:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]
The character also was portrayed in 2 television shows and 2 action figures as Ice. Toys aside, she has a greater real world context as Ice. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 04:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC).[reply]
It seems reasonable, obvious and sensible to leave this page where it is and set up redirects from any other possible iteration. Icemaiden has a "not to be confused with" already, and Ice is both the best-known, longest-used and reasonable title for this character, as near as I can tell/recall. ntnon (talk) 15:51, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone link Ice as a nonplayable character in DCUO? No ref online, nor hav i ever seen the character in the game.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.27.70 (talk) 20:50, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
