Supposed place of birth
[edit]The CIA say that Ian Henderson was "born and raised in Kenya". Actually, Henderson seems to have been born in Scotland. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.65.2.31 (talk) 15:10, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- A reasonable error to make if one reads Chapter 3, as it implies (by omission) that he was born in Kenya. Of course, AFAIK, it was not unheard of for expats to return to the home country for the birth of their children, which might account for it. Some early-life bio stuff there: looks like his father's name was Jock and he went to Prince of Wales School in Nairobi. From that chapter his birth year was 1927, as it says he joined the police in Feb 1945 and that was just before his 18th birthday.[1] Bromley86 (talk) 17:44, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
There's been a believable, but unsubstantiated, claim made to me that he was actually born in Kenya. We'd need a pretty credible source to overcome the BBC, Times & Telegraph (& others), but this may well be a case of one institution getting it wrong and the rest following. Note that the CIA book review is no good (see above). Bromley86 (talk) 10:29, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- A birth certificate is what is needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.239.144 (talk) 13:08, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
