Needs work
[edit]Hello, I intend to flesh this out a little, mostly to define the IRA reasoning behind what it was up to, to also add a section on the chronology and probably add a section on the media reaction to all this IRA/Abwehr stuff.
An article on McGarrity needs to be written, I went looking for confirmation of Hull's claim that he was in Germany at the same time Russell was in USA but didnt find any :/ Seems possible as Hull does say Clann na Gael were involved with Abwehr too. Fluffy999 18:03, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- Contrary to above comment I will not be responding to messages left on my talkpage or on pages for articles I have worked on. Will no longer be contributing to wikipedia. Thank you. Fluffy999 13:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Parts of this read like they have been written by someone who's native language is not English. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.230.143.183 (talk) 22:54, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
Proposing article be moved
[edit]Here in the very near future, I intend to move this article to a more appropriate title. The title as is may have worked in the short term, but this article is now more than a year-and-a-half old, and it needs a better title. I propose IRA/Abwehr collaboration in World War II or something similar. Does anyone have an opinion? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 21:42, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- The original title was given to the article to boost its google rank. Notice that a google for 'ira nazi' now places the baloney appearing at FA1R down from the top result- where it was before I authored the complete series on IRA Nazi links. This is in fact why I authored it all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.12.244.207 (talk) 22:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- What do you mean by "authored", 86.12.244.207? In the page with the article's history, one cannot see any contributions by you. -The Gnome (talk) 15:18, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Hayes
[edit]"Once Hayes was exposed as a traitor to the IRA, there was a power shift within the IRA which lead to the futile Northern Campaign in 1942." - my understanding is that the jury is still out on whether he was a traitor or not, he denied it for it the rest of his life, and most academic opinion is that he wasn't a traitor but that some believed he was and then built a case against him based on their prejudices rather than on facts. I think a more neutral and less emotive wording is needed, something along the lines of
"The was a strong believe in the IRA of the time that there was a spy at senior level and many people suspected Hays of being that spy, there was a very controversial 'Court Martial' which sentenced him to death, he managed to escape however his role in the IRA was now over, this lead to a power shift within the IRA which eventually lead to the Northern Campaign in 1942." —Preceding unsigned comment added by EoinBach (talk • contribs) 02:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
What is a CS?

Article in need of overhaul
[edit]The issue of the IRA consorting with Nazi Germany is obviously important and, for modern eyes, quite sensitive. Yet, the article's text contains a lot of inadequately sourced material. This needs to be corrected, as soon as possible. -The Gnome (talk) 13:32, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
