Why not out in the Canadian hinterland? Huh?
[edit]If you were willing to put 5,000 jobs way out in the American hinterland, in Rochester-Minnesota -- a small town in the middle of the American Prairie -- why couldn't you have put the Canadian HQ out in the Canadian hinterland, somewhere like Winnipeg or Halifax? Huh? Why does everything scientific and technical in Canada have to be concentrated into the tiny "Tor-Mon-Ott" (Toronto-Montreal-Ottawa) triangle, when the country has 3-and-a-half million square miles of elbow-room? Eh?
- "Well because that's where the majority of our customers are ......"
- "Well because that's where the majority of the engineering talent is located ......"
Ok, good point, but if that's true ... then move the Big Blue Zoo from Rochester-MN to New York City!
Eh? Doesn't that make sense? If those arguments hold for Canada, shouldn't they hold as well for the United States? If everything industrial and hi-tech in Canada has to be as close as possible to its highest density urban corridor (Southern Ontario / Southern Quebec) then shouldn't everything industrial and hi-tech in the United States be as close as possible to its highest density urban corridor (BosNYWash megalopolis) too?
Hmm?
