Requested move
[edit]The list of South African slang, referenced in the article, refers only to Howzit, not Howzat. I'm not expert, but the Saffies I've met have all said "Howzit", not "Howzat". --Dweller (talk) 09:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm South African and this is the first time ever I've seen it spelled Howzat. Definitely should be moved to Howzit. --NJR_ZA (talk) 21:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- I concur, as does the interweb. Here is an SA government funded source. A search in the .za domain space for "howzit" yield more than 20 000 results, the same thing for "howzat" yields less than 1 000. That last search also seems to confirm (as I believe) that "howzat" is actually cricket-originated slang, in the sense of an appeal to the umpire slash victory cry. 9Nak (talk) 16:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Hawaiian Pidgeon
[edit]I'm not sure I can find a source but I'm from Hawai'i and I can say with absolute certainty that we definitely say "howzit" all the time. A common expression is "howzit brahdah" but the meaning is the same "hows it going" or "how are you?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bronsonkaahui (talk • contribs) 20:28, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
