Global

[edit]

Someone might want to confirm the listed Canadian dates; sources say it won't air on Global until starting 5 May, like in the States. https://shaftesbury.ca/houdini-doyle/ --2601:CC:4001:E700:9C76:86B7:46EA:4CDD (talk) 12:21, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disagreement over whether or not to include information from episodes that have aired online but not yet on terrestrial platforms. (Copied from respective individuals' talk pages)

[edit]

Please refrain from adding content from an online version of a TV show that has not aired on TV as you did with this edit. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 02:16, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

By your logic, none of the programs only available through Netflix or Amazon Prime have aired yet, despite them being available to watch by millions of people worldwide, and being able to be watched on TV. There are an increasing number of shows getting aired via online platforms - insisting it only counts if it has aired on a terrestrial platform is spurious logic. And even if it held water, there is no good reason to delete the name of episode nine, which has been given by a reliable source. 86.160.202.114 (talk) 02:26, 24 April 2016 (UTC) Adding - and clearly other Wikipedians disagree with you regarding online airing. cf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_of_the_Doctor which states the episode first aired on 14th November 2013, which was when it was released online. It has never had a terrestrial airing. 86.160.202.114 (talk) 02:29, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
The article does not state it is being aired online. It only states a terrestrial platform. With that in mind, it has to air on a terrestrial platform to be included. That is a Doctor Who episode, not a Houdini and Doyle episode. That article also gives citations as to why it aired online. You did not provide that. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 02:36, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Whether the article lists it being aired online or not is irrelevent - it is available online. http://watch.nowtv.com/watch-entertainment/houdini-doyle/2c57b5b9a9f53510VgnVCM1000000b43150a____/seasons/undefined You can not only see that it is available, but also that episode 8 is available for viewing. And I did provide a citation for the name of episode nine, you just didn't bother to read the citation. Try this one http://www.itv.com/presscentre/ep9week18/houdini-doyle And before you say "is it a reliable source", the link is to the website of the UK TV site that co-produces the show. 86.160.202.114 (talk) 02:42, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
That is relevant. And it would be put in the Broadcast section with the citation after it has aired on a terrestrial platform. I did, however, add the episode names for 8 & 9 with the ref you provided. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 03:29, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
So, despite it clearly having aired online, and despite other shows which air online first (or exclusively) having their information listed, you don't wish to accept the information for this particular entry unless it has aired in the format you want. Care to explain why this show has to air on terrestrial television before information can be posted, yet shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Bosch, Man in the High Castle, etc. do not? 86.160.202.114 (talk) 03:48, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
Clearly the show was developed for TV, not online. Clearly Daredevil Marvel's Daredevil, or simply Daredevil, is an American web television series. Also the others you mention clearly state they are web series. Bosch is aired on Amazon Prime, and web service. The Man in the High Castle is on Amazon Video which means it is not aired on TV. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 04:42, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
I'd say it is developed both for online and TV, as with most shows these days. Regardless of that, no matter what format you feel it might have been developed for, it has aired first online - that is an irrefutable fact. But apparently you don't want to deal in facts, or have Wikipedia reflect same. I'm going to copy and paste this to the Houdini and Doyle page, so others can join this debate. 86.160.202.23 (talk) 11:33, 24 April 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.202.23 (talk)
And I'm going to request dispute resolution, since I get the impression you won't change your mind, despite the evidence. 86.160.202.23 (talk) 11:41, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly there is a difference between TV series and and web series. As I stated, you can add it to the broadcast section once it has aired on TV. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 11:58, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I disagree. Apart from where they can be viewed, there is no difference. So if the show has aired online, it has been broadcast. But since you and I are clearly not going to be able to agree on this, I stand by my decision to request dispute resolution. 86.160.202.23 (talk) 12:21, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Which you can do . - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 12:31, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can, and have. And stop adding the colons to every new paragraph - you are making the page harder and harder to read. Two or three and then let it revert back would still make it clear where each new statement started and ended. And again, there is precedence on Wikipedia that supports my stance. The BBC show Ripper Street was developed for airing on terrestrial television. From the third season, it moved to first airing on Amazon Prime, with terrestrial airings several months later. The fourth season has, as yet, only aired on Amazon Prime, yet despite this episode synopses and other information from same is posted on Wikipedia. 86.160.202.23 (talk) 12:37, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is supposed to be indented to see each new response. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 12:54, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Plese go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard#Talk:Houdini_and_Doyle to fill in your side of the debate. 86.160.202.23 (talk) 03:14, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

David Titcher

[edit]

Can someone verify if he's actually credited as "David Titcher" or "David N. Titcher"? The first episode seems to pipe the link the wrong way, it makes no sense to link to David N. Titcher when the article name and the displayed text are both David Titcher. "David N. Titcher" (without link) is used for episode 7. nyuszika7h (talk) 17:54, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Fixed - May 31, 2016 - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 23:14, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Historical accuracy

[edit]

I think there needs to be a section about the historical accuracy of the series. Namely about the events in the lives of Houdini and Doyle. For example, though the series is set in 1901, Houdini and Doyle did not meet until 1920. And where is Houdini's wife? As for the medical problems of Doyle's wife, I cannot find any factual evidence that what is shown in the series ever occurred. And then there's the death of Houdini's mother. First, she never went with him on his England/European tour. Second, and as such, she died stateside. Third, she did not die in 1901. In short, the series is REALLY playing fast-and-loose with the facts.

I know the descriptor states "based on," but really!! With all the discrepancies and outright ignoring of facts, I would think the word "fictional" should be included and play a stronger role in the description. 68.231.71.119 (talk) 18:08, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a citation[1] from an article that covers some of the inaccuracies in the show, if someone cares to write a sentence or two about that. Beyond mentioning that the two didn't really meet until 1920, I do not think there should be a point by point list. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 06:13, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian TV ratings

[edit]

Playback reports the Numeris Top 30 every week. Here's the viewership figures for the last episode. I'd add it myself, but I'm 100% sure I'd mess up that table. Damnedfan1234 (talk) 15:33, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

channel 7 two Melbourne Victoria advertised Houdini & doyle would be coming to their channel - when is this going to happen?

[edit]

When is Channel 7 two Melbourne, Australia going to have episodes of Houdini & doyle on their channel? It was advertised a lot and then nothing more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.188.23.150 (talk) 06:39, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
