I'm a namesake of Holbrook Blinn, he being a paternal great uncle by marriage. One of the family stories about him is that the fall from the horse is not what killed him, rather it was the onset of gangrene after what I believe was a broken arm. He refused amputation and died from the resulting infection. I'm in possession of his death mask, the creation of which seems to have been a fairly common practice in the decade in which he died.

I have an obit that has a handwritten note reading "L.A. Times 6-25-28" which confirms Ed McCurry's story. It says "Death was caused by septic poisoning, which developed from an injury to his right arm when he was thrown from his horse two weeks ago today. At the time of the accident he was playing in "The Play's the Thing." This is an English translation of a play by the Hungarian Ferenc Molnar. kpeck1916 (talk) 20:10, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
