Homs Gap

[edit]

In most English language scholarly sources that I've seen it is spelled Homs Gap. See, for example, Federal Research Division, Library of Congress (2005) "Country Profile: Syria" page 5; and "New Data on the Epipalaeolithic and Neolithic of the Homs Gap: Three Campaigns of Archaeological Survey (2004-2006)" Neolithics: The Newsletter of Southwest Asian Neolithic Research 1(7): pp. 3-9, Abstract. Is there any objection to moving this article? --Bejnar (talk) 23:01, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article title was based off of the city of Hims itself; this may want to be more widely discussed there. SpencerT♦C 01:17, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the proposal was move per request as the common name used in English.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:26, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hims GapHoms Gap — Although the city of Homs which gave this gap its name, may now generally be known as Hims, the Arabic expresses no vowel preference and the normal English usage for the gap is "Homs Gap". For example there are about 35 hits for "Homs Gap" in Google Scholar and none for "Hims Gap". --Bejnar (talk) 16:26, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
