[edit]The information about the alpha globin locus ("gene cluster") should someday be separated from information about the alpha globin gene (which is in the cluster). Since less is known about the alpha globin locus than the beta globin locus, maybe it's not worth it at the moment. Forluvoft 05:05, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Non-humans
[edit]What about alpha-globin in non-human species? In particular, how many amino acid residues are highly conserved across species? I've read 25 of 141, but my source is not a biological paper, and it does not give a source. ThomHImself (talk) 09:30, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
