Non-serious link
The above link will amuse some people, but shows only a localised example of the impact of the music video on the wider culture. I have therefore deleted it from the article. Fayenatic london 23:31, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Tose Proeski Cover
I wonder how Tose Proeski could cover that song in 2011, if he actually died in 2007, as it is written in the article about him. So, the cover must be older. --91.64.9.123 (talk) 10:51, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's worth investigating, but it's not unheard of for songs to be released posthumously. Hoof Hearted (talk) 18:45, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
In popular culture
Yes, the song has appeared in various films and TV shows. Yes, Richie has performed the song in various skits and ads. Yes, Richie performed the song this one time when you went to his concert at Topeka's Minute Rice(R) Amphitheater and you had 3rd row seats and he like totally looked right at you at the "I love you" part.
Unfortunately, these do not tell us anything meaningful about the song, as evidenced by the fact that independent reliable sources give the occurrence -- at best -- a passing mention.
"When properly written, such sections can positively distinguish Wikipedia from more traditional encyclopedias. They should be verifiable and should contain facts of genuine interest to the reader. Detailing a topic's impact upon popular culture can be a worthwhile contribution to an article, provided that the content is properly sourced and consistent with policies and guidelines, such as neutral point of view, no original research, and what Wikipedia is not.
When poorly written or poorly maintained, however, these sections can devolve into indiscriminate collections of trivia or cruft. They should be carefully maintained, as they may attract trivial entries, especially if they are in list format." WP:IPC
A quick check here: Details the topic's impact on popular culture? No. An indiscriminate list? Yes. - SummerPhDv2.0 14:58, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
