This article contains a translation of HMS St. George (1785) from da.wikipedia. |
The description of the final voyage and loss of St. George has been partly translated from the Danish Wiki-page da:HMS St. George (1785) and cross-referenced against various sources, most notably Jepsen (1993). The event is closely coupled to the loss of HMS Defence, HMS Hero and very close escape HMS Cressy and parts of these stories have been included as well. It may be better, however, to create a separate page dedicated to the loss of St. George and Defence and transfer all material there. A large number of merchant ships were also lost in the hurricane.
