I'll snag this one. Parsecboy (talk) 00:10, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- File:Heavy cruiser HMS Effingham (D98) in 1925.jpg - this seems dubious to me, as it appears to have been taken from a commercial publication. And the ship postdates the 1925-cutoff for PD-US.
- File:Hawkins class cruiser diagrams Brasseys 1923.jpg - the artist isn't provided, but Brassey's generally does identify the creator of the sketches. 1923 would probably be a bit too late for Barnaby, who died in 1925 IIRC - do we know who took over for him?
- No, the '23 edition has an art editor, but no credited artist. The artist may well have been Barnaby from an earlier edition since the ships had been under construction since '17, but I don't have anything between '15 and 23.
- The rest of the images are fine.
- As is the one you replaced the lead image with
- I wonder if the details of the modernization should be moved to a sub-header of the design section as we've typically done, like with the Revenges (eg: HMS_Resolution_(09)#Major_alterations).
- Since there was only one modernization, I think that it works here, although multiple modernizations may be better off integrated into the service history, as per Renown.
- Relatedly, do you think the refit was significant enough to warrant a second characteristics box?
- Almost totally rearmed plus propulsion changes, so yeah.
- Also relatedly, if you move the bulk of the modernization stuff up, you could split the service history into interwar and WWII sections, which I think makes more sense thematically.
- Good idea.
- The paragraph "Effingham arrived at Portsmouth for the necessary...when the Germans invaded on 8 April." has no citations.
- Oops.
- "and Brigadier General (Général de brigade) Antoine Béthouart; " - some readers can probably guess he's French (and can probably put 2 and 2 together when the FFL is mentioned later in the paragraph) but it might be wise to be clearer.
- " transferred to Ankenes to Harstad" - from Ankenes to Harstad?
- "destroyers Echo and HMS Matabele" - probably want to hide that HMS. Parsecboy (talk) 13:49, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
