Speeds
[edit]Hi,
I made some changes to the speeds, reference was the pilot operating handbook, to be found in the web under www.88thservices.com/pdf/cougarflightmanual.pdf. E.g. for the VMCA I used indicated airspeed, which was replaced by calibrated airspeed.
My suggestion: To avoid such confusions one should clarify in the template, which speeds shall be used, e.g. for cruise speeds KTAS (knots true airspeed), for stall speeds KCAS (knots calibrated airspeed). And for the stall speed it should be clear which configuration is meant, the value entered now is calibrated dirty (full flaps), I entered indicated speed clean (no flaps).
I noticed, that for the speeds except the VNE the conversion to km/h does not work, something to be done to that?

- Thanks for posting that link to the POH! That is a great help. I have corrected the specs from the POH for the Vmca. In the new-style specifications format the conversions are done automatically and they seem to be working right at the present! - Ahunt (talk) 15:24, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Just double checked and you are quite right the template is not converting to km/h correctly. Let me see if I can get that fixed. The indication about whether speeds are IAS, TAS or CAS can be added in the "notes" section under each parameter, as I have done for minimum control airspeed. The notes are there to allow this sort of qualification to be included. - Ahunt (talk) 15:28, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- All the uses of this template where kts are primary have a problem. Just to let you know we are working on it and it should be fixed at a template level, meaning that it won't require changes to this page. I'll drop a note here when it is fixed. - Ahunt (talk) 15:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing out that template problem it has now been fixed! - Ahunt (talk) 12:41, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
