Pembrokeshire farm?
[edit]Strangely no mention of this? He owns it, restored it as per the TV series. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.170.76.205 (talk) 07:49, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- See grouted roof for some mention of this. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:14, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Mountain
[edit]With regard to a recent anonymous insertion alleging that Rhys Jones didn't climb fifteen peaks and in particular Ben Nevis, here are relevant quotes from the series' accompanying book, written by Rhys Jones: "Now [filming is finished] I have climbed fifteen British mountains, some of them three or four times in a row for the cameras." In respect of Ben Nevis, he writes, "We crossed to the next gable of the roof of Scotland and then on and up [...] to a cloud-obscured top." [...] "I had gone as high as I could in the country of Great Britain, and it felt excellent." Chris 42 (talk) 23:05, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Since the anon seemed insistent on adding it back (with not a little POV), I have researched this further, finding the story here. However, since it was a navigational error (according to Rhys Jones) and he still climbed Ben Nevis, the text in the article as it stands is still correct. Note it says "climbed", not "conquered". This detail is better suited to the Mountain article, to which I have now added a relevant subsection. Chris 42 (talk) 18:04, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Pils adverts
[edit]Why no mention of the Pils commercials Griff appeared in alongside famous films stars like John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Marilyn Monroe and Edward G. Robinson?
- Good point, though I suggest changing the phraseology, so as to say "... commercials Griff appeared in, seemingly with famous film stars... ". Also, should his new Ch4 Gameshow be mentioned?--TimothyJacobson (talk) 13:20, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- NB, the gameshow is called A Short History of Everything Else--TimothyJacobson (talk) 01:49, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Family name?
[edit]Is "Rhys" part of his first or his family name? The English and Welsh Wikipedias seem to consider it as his family name, while the German edition and for example the Telegraph call him "Jones". Any authoritative sources on that? --Tim Landscheidt (talk) 22:01, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Do we not rely on his birth certificate for that? Kittybrewster ☎ 08:50, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- I haven't seen his birth certificate; the British Library however lists him as "Jones, Griff Rhys". --Tim Landscheidt (talk) 00:51, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Iggy the Swan: As you declared his surname to be "Rhys Jones" with this edit, what are your sources? --Tim Landscheidt (talk) 14:33, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- It was my logic that when I see other articles like Mel Smith for example, the linked page has "Smith" in some parts of the article. What I see in this article is "Rhys Jones" almost everywhere when this person is mentioned. I did spot the "The Smith and Jones Sketchbook" text in there as well. At the time when I made the edit, I did not use or see any source to make the edit.

Charged?
[edit]Charged?
[edit]'he was charged with helping to look after 600 Canadian schoolgirls'
Given the way language is used these days, might not the phrase 'charged with' be altered to 'hired to' or 'engaged to' or 'employed to'?
I know what 'charged with' means, or used to mean. Quite a lot of others may not. 2001:44B8:3102:BB00:D00:8E2:E3D5:4A76 (talk) 00:56, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
