The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the proposed title is more WP:NATURAL than the current one, and that the improvement is sufficient to outweigh the reduction in consistency. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:22, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia (1786–1859) → Maria Pavlovna, Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach – A more natural disambiguation per WP:NATURAL, she was a grand duchess consort in Germany and it's a better choice than putting years of birth and death in the brackets. - Comment As I pointed out in another discussion none of the pages at Category:Russian grand duchesses use a woman's title upon marriage within the article's name. Firstly, because these women are mostly remembered as Russian grand duchesses rather than the wives of lower ranking dukes or princes. Secondly, there are other pages on women who have shared a similar title with these grand duchesses upon marriage. For instance, the subject of this page held the title "Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach", however, there were other women who bore the exact same title, and for them we have used their maiden names. So moving this page to the suggested title would violate WP:TITLECON on multiple levels. Keivan.fTalk 21:27, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support - While I generally prefer to include both the maiden and married titles in the title for deceased consorts with ambiguous maiden names, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia, Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach is too long (even for me). Using the married title alone (or married territorial name) is not without precedent (ie. Marie of Romania), and I prefer anything to the present form of disambiguation which I think should be avoided at any cost. estar8806 (talk) ★ 01:38, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- In that case the nominator has to demonstrate that the person was mostly notable as Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach rather than a Grand Duchess of Russia. Keivan.fTalk 02:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Her time as as consort in Germany is longer than her life before marriage and one of the images used in the article is a commemorative medal with the German title prominently above the image of her head, estar's proposal is good too. Killuminator (talk) 14:47, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, but we should not forget that this is the English Wikipedia. Obviously, German sources would favor the German title but what about English sources or even Russian sources (she was Russian after all)? We have to look those up too before jumping to conclusions. - Support per WP:NATURALDIS. Proposed title is accurate and more likely to help readers find the article they are looking for. Jenks24 (talk) 13:28, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
