Black background

[edit]

What does the black background mean? - Gaja (talk) 22:51, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It depends if you are talking about military plates, which are black with white text, or civilian ones. Number plates on UK military vehicles are white on black, on the front and the back. As for civilian vehicles, Gibraltar numberplates have the same colours and fonts as UK ones, so it can be assumed that a vehicle which was used on the road before the early 1970s could have a black number plate at each end. Any newer vehicles with such plates are probably in breach of the law. Rugxulo (talk) 22:48, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The UK is now allowing vehicles registered later on in the 1970s to display white-on-black plates, so it would be useful to check if this is also the case in Gibraltar. 109.145.4.121 (talk) 20:25, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
