Death date

[edit]

How do we show the date? RIA Novosti reported his death at 01:38 AM Moscow time. It was still April 28 in Italy. --Yomal Sidoroff-Biarmskii (talk) 07:55, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sidoroff-B: When it was 1:38 in Moscow, it was 12:38 in Rome. It was not still the 28th. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 08:23, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reviewed: Rio de Flag
  • Comment: Eligible per Rule 1e, because it only appeared in the "Recent Deaths" section of ITN and not as a bold link. Open to having it run on April Fools' Day 2021 if it is deemed sufficiently quirky.

  • The article is eligible for a DYK, but I don't think this is funny or surprising enough to merit a 10-month wait for an April Fools in 2021. And frankly, I think the sentence about him looking after a cat is trivia and does not even belong to the article. It seems a very minor, very footnote-ish event from his life, and it seems like its sole function in the article is to provide a hook here. I am sorry, but I think this fails on all counts (as in, please remove this trivia from the article, and please provide a proper hook, which I'll be happy to review). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:25, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Piotrus: As I had already explained in the GA review, the purpose of including that sentence is "to illustrate how he himself has a "strong affiliation" with the Vatican (mentioned earlier in the first sentence of the section)". Therefore, it's incorrect to claim that "its sole function in the article is to provide a hook here" – I only used it for the hook because it is the most interesting fact to a broad audience. —Bloom6132 (talk) 10:42, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Bloom6132: I appreciate the explanation but I remain unconvinced this fact (and by extension, hook) is encyclopedic. That said, this is a subjective judgement, and if you want to stand by the hook, another reviewer will be needed as I am still deeming this hook as not interesting enough, and concerning a fact that I still believe is trivial and encyclopedic. I will be happy to review other hooks if you chose to submit any alts. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:35, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Piotrus: Alright, how about this one?:
ALT1: ... that when Giacomo dalla Torre (pictured) was elected Grand Master of the Order of Malta in 2018, it marked the first time that female members participated in the vote for a new leader? Source: Times of Malta
Hope that's alright. —Bloom6132 (talk) 12:05, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I could nitpick that the hook is only half about him, but... that's probably ok anyway. I think the new hook is more encyclopedic, so GTG. All other things checked, plus this is a recent GA anyway. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:38, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
