Thank you (MSGJ · talk). He should have started a conversation. Several people complained the link they posted was no longer working. It was due to Biruitorul who changed the name of the page. I believe that whatever the consensus about diacritics might be, changing THE NAME of a page should be even stricter a no-no until a discussion was initiated. I wonder what triggers such visceral reactions from this group to see insults about the artist (Biruitorul), about my English (AjaxSmack) with no justification. I did a service to the community, working on the page. I expect some respect for the work, and do not make changes unless you KNOW they are justified, and, if significant, please show a little courtesy and discuss first. The philosophical question of diacritics can be addressed without so much acrimony. I personally think that since the subject does have a page in Romanian with all the diacritics, correctly spelled, in Romanian, the English page can and should be without. The artist is known internationally. In fact, the main reason this web page was put up is because she will have a major retrospective at the MNAC http://www.mnac.ro and about half of her oeuvre is in private collections abroad. As for the remark that all references are from Romanian sources, the page is not complete! The main references are simply based on the Romanian wiki page. In fact, I personally contacted the writer of that page and discussed using the material before. -Igandrew.

Notice the spelling in both cases. She has been de facto represented for a very long time by Galerie Mucha in Hamburg http://www.galerie-mucha.com/kuenstler/#!/georgeta-naparus and as far away as in Tyler Collection of Romanian and Modern Art at the University of Tasmania http://tylercollection.omeka.net/items/show/905. These are only two of the many connections and, you may notice, the name is spelled in English. - Igangrew

Mentioning how many edits one makes on wikipedia does not convince me. It seems that you pick on people's work on minor issues, and you developed an attitude of self-entitlement which, case in point, is not justified. You 1) removed a link to GN's first husband - a stage director who may be somewhat forgotten but deserves an article in wikipedia. 2) Provoked a fight and ended up with the effect of disabling the page (could not be found by people we advertised it to, defying the purpose of this page, which is, after all, to inform; 3) Under the vaguely patriotic knee jerk reaction to non-Romanian spelling you started immediately degrading the personality of an artist under the unverified claim she is not famous. You are damaging the cultural heritage you claim to protect, it is sad. Please give a deep thought to your attitude. My point is that your contributions may be, in fact, damaging and people do not react vigorously enough to your form of, yes, vigilanteism. Rule no. 1: do not make changes unless you know the subject. Very simple. -Igandrew.

Fine, @MSGJ:, but just for the record, it was not I who reverted twice, nor I who called the other user "disruptive" and a "vandal", nor I who refused any constructive dialogue (indeed my RM suggestion was brushed off), nor I who put myself in the ridiculous posture of throwing bricks at a user with an 11-year editing history of 125,000 edits across thousands of articles, when I've edited two articles in two weeks and just over 100 edits. - Biruitorul ^Talk 13:57, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Georgeta Naparus → Georgeta Năpăruș – This is a pretty straightforward matter: Wikipedia generally uses diacritics, unless there's an excellent reason not to. Just within the realm of 20th century Romanian painters, we have articles on Aurel Băeșu, Sabin Bălașa, Ștefan Dimitrescu, Eugen Drăguțescu, Dumitru Ghiață, Ștefan Luchian, Ștefan Pelmuș, Gheorghe Petrașcu, Gheorghe Șaru, Francisc Șirato, Raoul Șorban, Eugeniu Ștefănescu-Est, George Ștefănescu, Eustațiu Stoenescu, Ion Țuculescu and of course Constantin Brâncuși, despite the fact that the latter spent most of his career in France. There is no valid case for breaking this rule in this situation. Năpăruș never even lived outside Romania, all the sources mentioned are in Romanian, and she is virtually unknown outside her country. • Uncontroversial, support all modern Romanian bios, all modern bios in Latin script all across Wikipedia, are spelled with full Unicode. Not quite sure what the new editor's issue is, but a cursory look at the article corpus would have saved us this. Well spotted Biruitorul. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:01, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

• Support. This is not controversial as the subject was born in, was only active in, and died in Romania where the her name was Georgeta Năpăruș.
