Oil Control Board
[edit]His holding the post of chairman of the Oil Control Board is according to his entry in Who was Who. However, I would question whether this was in fact correct, as Sir Andrew Agnew of Shell was chairman of the "Petroleum Board", according to Angela Kenny, ‘Agnew, Sir Andrew (1882–1955)’, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004 [1], accessed 6 March 2012. The Petroleum Board, also called the Petroleum Control Board, seems to be identical to the Oil Control Board. This took over all the British assets of the oil industry during WWII. He certainly had political oversight of the Board. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:45, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Burning of giant ration book
[edit]Would be nice to verify and include that he burned a giant ration book to mark the ending of rationing in 1954... AnonMoos (talk) 15:39, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
- If true, I am sure it would. Try researching contemporary newspapers. Peterkingiron (talk) 21:40, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
