Birthdate
[edit]Birthdate in Early Life differs from the rest of the article. I'm unsure which correct, but one of them isn't. 100.11.47.244 (talk) 19:02, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Franklin Buchanan essentially killed his brother, at the Hampton Roads battle
[edit]From "A Short History of the Civil War", by Fletcher Pratt (original copyright 1935, originally published as "Ordeal By Fire"); the last paragraph of the chapter on this battle (chapter 10, "Varanus Salvator"): "Note for genealogists - there were two naval officers named Buchanan, brothers. One commanded 'Virginia'; the other had remained with the old flag and died in the flames when 'Congress' went." It might be a remarkable and pertinent addition to this article for this at least to be mentioned, and perhaps to note what, if any, are Franklin Buchanan's known statements about this. 71.176.128.203 (talk) 19:48, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
