I've removed this bit added by User:Rex Germanus:

• The Dutch language, which is a Low Frankish language and the only living language with a direct link to the Frankish language itself.

Whether Dutch is or isn't the only direct descendant of a Frankish language, this doesn't belong on a disambiguation page because no one would ever say "Frankish" and mean "Dutch", just as one would never say "Latin" and mean "Italian". Certainly Dutch deserves mention in the Old Frankish language article, but not in the disambig.

As for Dutch being the only Frankish language, I'm no expert on Low Germanic language origins, but surely one of Limburgish, Luxembourgish, Frisian, or Plattsdeutsch is also Frankish? They have of course been influenced by High German dialects, but so has Dutch.

And, to be rather pedantic about it, there are at least two modern languages that are descendants of Frankish, since both Afrikaans are Modern Dutch are equally valid descendants of 17th century Dutch. (You can perhaps dispute that Afrikaans is a separate language, but Wikipedia says it is.) --Saforrest 16:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Let me make this clear;

• Limburgish - Not a language,but a Dutch dialect.Low Frankish though.
• Luxembourgish - "language", but really a High German dialect.Not Frankish.
• Frisian - Not a low Germanic language, not Frankish either
• Plattsdeutsch - Not connected to Frankish

Dutch was not influenced by High German (dialects). That's why it's called Dutch and not German. Then on to this,

I would not dispute that Afrikaans is a separate language but it's link to Frankish is somewhat blurred it being a "semi-creol".As it has properties of many many other langauges, often outside the Germanic group.

Modern Dutch, is the Dutch spoken in the 17th century.So Afrikaans decends from modern Dutch. So not this pattern:

Frankish means the same as Franconian, no need to single out all the languages, this is a disamb page, keep it short and simple, and keep the info at the relevant pages. No more to it. Ulritz 23:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Frankish means Franconian in general. Feel free to create an appropriate redir/disamb at the Low Frankish page, but do not single it out here. Wed have to list all Franconian groups, which misses the point. Ulritz 23:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC) PS Redir works beautifuly.
