Errors

[edit]

This article is so full of errors it should be redone! First of all, Forugh Farrokhzad was a woman, not a man! Secondly, there are several spelling errors in the names of important figures around FF, such as Ebrahim Golestan (misspelled as Brahima!). This article is not trustworthy at all. The articles was vandalized shortly before your comment, I now restored the correct version.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:58, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Third or fourth child?

[edit]

I just consulted a résumé of Forough Farrokhzad (now linked to the article) in which it is stated that Forough has been the fourth child of the familiy rather than, what is stated in the present article, the third child. Perhaps someone should investigate and find out which one of these two, if any, is correct.

Further to the above question, in the same résumé it is mentioned that "When she was 32 years old she attemted suicide"; since 1935+32=1967, the year of Forough's death, it appears that this suicide attempt must have taken place shortly before Forough's car accident (one should of course take into account the inherent ambiguity about ages, not least because of the problem arising from conversion of dates). Again, it seems appropriate that someone should find out about the actual date and mention this suicide attempt in the biography (the present text of the biography is conspicuously silent about the suicide attempt).

Birth date

[edit]

The german wikipedia changed the birth date according to the persian wikipedia to 29. Dezember 1934 . Because in the persian article the date is given as: ۸ دی، ۱۳۱۳

Translations

[edit]

Why oh why was this edit reverted? The long list of works read as promo (it just missed the info where to order the book) and the summery of this list in Her work is translated into (...) seems sufficient to me. The Banner talk 12:48, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the fact that her works were translated into foreign languages is encyclopaedic. We can discuss how detailed this info should be (note that I removed some direct links to the publishing houses, which were at the edge of promotion), but just the list of languages, translated pieces, and the names of translators are entirely encyclopaedic.--Ymblanter (talk) 12:57, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I am not convinced. The Banner talk 23:18, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Looks then like we need a third opinion. Should we make an RFC?--Ymblanter (talk) 08:08, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

poem

[edit]

I am curious to know if Farrokhzad wrote the following line: "The bird shall die, remember the flight"? It's quoted here

https://books.google.ca/books?id=yoQQ2YzmMyMC&pg=PA283&dq=farrokhzad+bird+shall+die+remember+the+flight&hl=en&sa=X&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=farrokhzad%20bird%20shall%20die%20remember%20the%20flight&f=false

But I can't seem to find its source. It's quite nice, even if it's short. Perhaps worth including in the article itself? If not, then no real loss. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.27.88.67 (talk) 14:19, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Forough FarrokhzadForugh Farrokhzad – reason for move It is because Forough is the incorrect spelling of this poet's name. When it was initially latinized it was not done correctly. Today, most reputable translators and writers spell her name as: Forugh Farrokhzad. Wikipedia's incorrect spelling leads to widespread misspelling and hence mispronunciation of her name. Forugh Farrokhzad Team (talk) 14:50, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:35, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This will be good move. There must be consensus about the spelling of her name, or else it is confusing. A search through various contemporary sites and publication shows that most reputable translators use Forugh. Also filmmakers. Older publications use Forough. I do think it is a good idea to use a single spelling. DS100 (talk) 21:18, 16 December 2020 (UTC)DS100[reply]
