Best Wiki entrys for Theme Parks

[edit]

I think Flamingo Land has now got one of the best Wikipidea entrys around. Dee4Leeds 10:54 (GMT)

Amazing, A high standard well explained page - Luke Terheyden Keighley

I wonder if it was made by someone connected with the park...Is a good wikipedia page becoming good advertising? :p Its a bit badly written in places but quite complete --Josquius 20:49, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No it was written/edited by the members of Talk Flamingo. --Dee4leeds 21:02, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have added some templates to show that this page needs clean-up
  • I have adjusted a quotation from Flamingoland Force so that it is obviously a quotation. The previous edit was not obvious and seemed to have been an attempt at covert advertising.--Shakujo 02:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]
  • The owner might well be a pleasant man and I won't dispute that he is, but if you want to state such a POV then some citation is needed. At the moment it just sounds like some kind of personal publicity, which in actual fact has a negative impact upon the article as a whole and is unencyclopedic.--Shakujo 08:17, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • This article contains two opposing POVs. The first makes it sound like an advert, the second is currently unsubstantiated rumour, i.e. "Accidents" without any citation of sources.
  • If citations are not given within the next week or so, I am going to clean the whole thing up for a more NPOV.--Shakujo 08:39, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Off-topic Information

[edit]

Wouldn't information about individual management, which has no apparent link to the topic at hand (the theme park), be more suited to an article about said management? I mean, Mr Gibb getting a nomination and knowing that he likes to walk dogs isn't really related to the topic, so I think it's best to remove it --BrokenLink 08:39, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Flamingo land logo new.jpg

[edit]

Image:Flamingo land logo new.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:48, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Been absolutely destroyed

[edit]

This article needs to be reverted to its former glory. I hope the person who did this is banned from Wikipedia. --Dee4leeds 13:45, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restore this article!

Half of the content in the article does not display such as the history section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.199.36 (talkcontribs)

Fixed, all it was was an unneeded "!". --AxG @ talk 13:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 03:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article requires renaming

[edit]

The parks official name is now no longer 'Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo' it is 'Flamingo Land Resort'. The article requires renaming to refelct this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.26.130.51 (talk) 15:55, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Velocity2222 (talkcontribs) 16:23, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Owner

[edit]

I have removed Owner from the infobox for the moment as there appears to be some dispute over it. I have looked on the park web-site but cannot locate any info on this. Can anyone provide sourced information as to owner? Keith D (talk) 22:50, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rating

[edit]

The only thing holding this article back from a C-class rating (and maybe even B) is citations. The article needs to be cited so that statements made can be substantiated. Donlammers (talk) 23:27, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you do not know how to cite, but know of a source for some particular text, please just put the URL for the source in square brackets after the text that it supports. I am watching this article, and will come back and turn it into a proper citation. Please do NOT put such links under External links. External links should be used mainly for the web site of the facility (see WP:EX) Donlammers (talk) 15:34, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please have mercy

[edit]

On those of us who are not amusement park afficionados (like, most of the people who would be reading this article). The abbreviation "IP" needs to be expanded. To me, in the computer chip industry, this means "Intellectual Property", but I suspect that is not the meaning here. Abbreviations MUST be defined for those of us who do not know them in this context. "ATM", of course menas ..... "Asynchronous Transfer Mode" right? 21 November 2024 Guild of Copy Editors

This page was tagged for copy-edit clean-up.

Action undertaken: Aggressive Edit to bring in line with Wikipedia standards:

Main changes follow:

  1. Removal of technical financial information of no concern to an encyclopedia
  2. Rewriting of a few sections so that they didn't sound like someone rambling or an advert - more to do
  3. Removal of some unverified information that has been unverified too long.

If anyone would like to make a case for inclusion of anything I've removed we can discuss it here.

There is no legend describing what the red/yellow/blue colours are in the rides section

[edit]

An example of this kind of legend is available on the following page:

The new ride probably isn’t “Inversion”

[edit]

There’s been no official confirmation from the park about the ride’s name, so we should probably leave it as “unknown” for the time being. PlaneCal (talk) 14:18, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
