Mistakes

Considering the size of the article there may be some mistakes, sincerely I can't bother with that because I spent so many months on this article that I'm now sick of it :) The table begins with 1958 because of issues with the shared drives, so if someone knows a way to efficiently deal with that, you're welcome to add the missing years. I hope you enjoy the work, anyway.

Factory entries vs. privateers

I've fixed the preamble to clarify that this article is for factory entries only. But I haven't checked all the entries to make sure that the privateers aren't included in the table. I believe currently there may be some private entries that are included, based purely on the comments for the corrections other people made earlier. So if anybody is willing to do the work of cross-checking and making sure that private entries are either consistently excluded or included it would be great. In case the decision is made to included privateers, I'd suggest to either make a separate section in the article with its own table, or to include them in the same existing table but visually separate them using a different color scheme or some other means to see the factory/private distinction at a glance.

Removed three, couldn't spot any others atleast from pre 1958. McLaren Grand Prix results lists privateers in a different table, that should be done here as well if they are wanted to be shown. --Pudeo' 01:09, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I think creating a separate table would be a good idea. Another idea is to clearly separate two types of entries (works vs. privateers) within the same table, but I don't think putting extra superscripts/asterisks would be pretty. So my preferred way would be to highlight them through cell background or style (but this could not be done using color, since the color is already used for standings and the two schemes would likely collide — so maybe through some cross-hatching or something similar in the privateers cells). I started the privateers table, only having Baghetti though because he's the only man who achieved a win and a fastest lap in a privately entered Ferrari. We should add the removed ones from the the other list, although adding a driver with just one Ret. feels a bit useless.

The confusing thing though is that 1971 Formula One season lists a podium for privately entered Mark Donohue as a proper McLaren podium and added for the tally of McLaren manufacturer points. Maybe the rules permitted points by privateers to the proper manufacturer, if they had better results than manufacturer itself at a few races. This should not be a problem here either since it's not a problem in McLaren results: the main table has privateer points in 1971 because they were counted as WCC points, but still listing the privateer in the other table below separately. --Pudeo' 13:52, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Remember, these are supposed to be complete results, so anything including just a single "Ret." or "DNS" or "DNQ" should be put here.

We will need to check on the rules for privateers-earned points, I don't remember off the top of my head and can't check right now.

Please also don't forget to add the entries you originally deleted from the table.

As far as I'm aware, privateer's points have always counted towards the constructor's WCC points total. In cases where the constructor's points total includes points won by privateers, we add a note in the points column - see the 1970 and 1971 rows of McLaren Grand Prix results as an example. All drivers should be added to one or the other of the lists, even if they only raced once and retired that time. If not, the list will not be complete. So this is necessary. John Anderson (talk) 00:02, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Results as an engine supplier?

At Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix results, there are lists for other teams than the works team which have used Mercedes engines. Should we add similar lists to this page, listing Scuderia Toro Rosso and others? John Anderson (talk) 05:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

You could - but you need to be aware of re-branded Ferrari engines used by some teams in the past, e.g. as used by Sauber under Petronas brand.

Which outfit entered Scarlatti in Monaco-56?

There are differing accounts on who was an official entrant for Giorgio Scarlatti in 1956 Monaco Grand Prix. Sources disagree, as some say it was a private entry by himself, and some others say it was Scuderia Centro Sud. cherkash (talk) 00:37, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

In view of recently completed privateers table, and the fact that Scarlatti's entry was switched from himself to Scuderia Centro Sud in the latest version, I've re-visited. ChicaneF1.com tends to agree with himself being the entrant. Steve Small also concurs. So the entry by Scarlatti himself looks more reliable and supported. An excessively long list
