[edit]I restored the links to Fed-Std-595.com as I find them useful for reference purposes. I believe the deletion of these links with no explanation was akin to vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.8.131.231 (talk) 04:41, February 14, 2008
Color examples
[edit]I was wondering if the article could use some example color codes, say in a table, to better give the reader a better idea as to what the color standard represents. This site [1] has a selection of colors with the FS-##### codes with the associated RGB values. Also could we define what each number in the code represent, say the first for the level of glossiness, the second for the general color, and so forth. - Dlrohrer2003 03:40, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- I’m going to try to add a table of swatches for these colors, when I can. –jacobolus (t) 20:50, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Why was this article split into 2?
[edit]I was looking to use this article's former example colors as a resource for a texturing project, but it seems the article has been split between this one and MERDC camouflage, which has a shortened list color codes but absolutely no visual examples of said colors. Any idea why this split happened? I'd like to see it reverted, and have the previous example list of FS-595 colors formerly on this article reinstated for public convenience. - The entire list of FS 595 colors is not appropriate for an encyclopedia; there's a hell of a lot more than just the military colors you're thinking of. And the former list of camouflage colors in the now MERDC article was a false list of OR cobbled together by someone who had no idea what they were talking about. Only the specific 12 colors listed in that article were actually used, not the dozens of incorrectly added ones there. That article was completely incorrect on facts and content, and was summarily replaced by the correct information. oknazevad (talk) 21:17, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- It's somewhat out of scope (cf. WP:INDISCRIMINATE), but would probably also be okay if someone really wants to include a table of FS 595 colors down near the bottom of the article, along the lines of Web colors § Extended colors (it would be 2–3 times more than that). More relevant would be to call out a smaller number of specific colors with important applications and describe those in prose. –jacobolus (t) 15:12, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
