Woah.. this article is really poor. I think its worth looking at other pages on other football clubs to get an idea of how they should read, but this seems like it needs a pretty big tidy up. Why for example, is it of any relevance for the intro to the page, that the club lost to Hearts? Why not for example mention its win over Celtic to get into the Champions League? --212.84.123.161 19:25, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stadium

[edit]

What stadium did FC Basel play at before St. Jakob-Park was built? It doesn't say here. --WölffReik 17:32, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relation

[edit]

"Flag of Germany SV Werder Bremen - Although FC Basel and Werder Bremen have no official connection there is a close friendship between their supporters. The last time these clubs met in a tournament was a UEFA Champions League third round qualifier in September 2005 which Werder won 4-2 on aggregate. However, the most recent encounter between the two clubs was a friendly match during the 2007 pre-season where FC Basel won 2-0 at Sportpark Eschen-Mauren in Liechtenstein."

Biggest rubbish I've ever heard. There is an "inofficial" friendship between Braunschweig and Basel, but SURELY NOT Bremen... --83.176.58.70 21:03, 5 August 2008 (CET)

FC Basel captains

[edit]

I'd like to include a list of FCB captains but I don't know who has captained Basel over the years. I know that Franco Costanzo is current captain, and Ivan Ergić was captain before him, and Murat Yakin was before him. Who was captain before him? Can anyone help me? --WölffReik 17:32, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Superleague Formula templates

[edit]

I've started a discussion about the use of the Superleague Formula templates on football club articles at Template talk:Superleague Formula following some discussion at Talk:Tottenham Hotspur F.C.. Since this article features the template, your views would be welcome. Cordless Larry (talk) 21:29, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manager

[edit]

Thorsten Fink isn't the manager of the team, he's the coach! We don't have a manager. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.219.41.209 (talk) 18:06, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And UBS isn't a sponsor any more, it's now replaced by Basler Kantonalbank. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.219.41.209 (talk) 18:13, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality of Basel fans

[edit]

Are there a lot of Turkish fans for this club? I wonder because whenever the oppostion get the ball, Basel fans all jeer and whistle. This is a way Turkish fans show support and it is not usual in Western Europe clubs. Is there a strong Turkish connection with Basel? If so, that would be good to see in the article.

No, there isn't at all a relatin to Turkish people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.197.236.12 (talk) 00:28, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"recentism" template

[edit]

Hallo everybody, perhaps someone would like to remove the "recentism" template from the <History> section. I have added many texts, as well as sources and refs over time. Therefore, I consider the issue as resolved. But because I have done this work myself, I would be grateful if somebody else would remove the template. Thank you in advance. Greetings from Basel --Huligan0 (talk) 22:03, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

history section

[edit]

hi all. I have restored the history section to the last point at which it was halfway useful. the previous section was almost entirely unsourced, not in proper English, and mostly consisted of links to other articles, all with significant issues. if anyone would like to have a look at those - it is incredible to me that this has remained this way for so long.
