on my direct tv satellite, when i dpress the information button, i get the name of the program, the time and a description of the program. is this XDS? extended data services?

Actually no, that is just the satellite box's channel info screen. XDS is on the Television Set menu near the closed captioning features on the Television Set. I know this because my Dad's tv has XDS. RandMC (talk) 01:47, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

EDS's transition from NTSC to Digital

[edit]

Now that NTSC is falling into the dustbin of history, where does its stuff go, in Digital television / Digital terrestrial television protocols? Obviously the whole point of digital TV is that there's an immense amount of room in sideband for stuff like EDS— but presumably there's a protocol for mapping EDS to particular, uh, packet types?, in Digital. Does anyone know the details, can provide a link, etc? My googling has hit a wall. —sburke@cpan.org (talk) 23:36, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
