'Early Life' Section
[edit]The Early Life Section of this article has two very fundamental issues with both its reliability as reference material, and its stylistic construction:
- Only a single source is cited in support of the Section. The content of this source, which can be viewed here, does not support several of the accounts given within the Section. While the source material is reliable/useful, more inline citations to other sources must be added or the content must be removed.
- The writing style of this Section is extremely awkward and incoherent, however requires the aforementioned issue to be addressed before stylistic edits can be made. I will include a brief excerpt which supports this assertion self-evidently (remember also that no background for these statements has been substantially established, as this is the first major section of the article):
Several character studies have noted his unusual zeal and warmth of character. He was humble. An explosion as he assisted his father in the mine scorched his bible. He read it diligently. The revival followed a period of prayer and interest in several quarters. But the spark seemed to fly from Roberts. Evan saw a picture of a check with 100,000 souls saved. Within a few months of October 1904 this was the case.

- I have now removed the Refimprove and Awkward tags from this Section of the article, and have added new references as well as improved the clarity of the writing. Some citations which I cannot locate are still needed here, and I would suggest that the rest of the article also be reviewed for quality. UBI-et-ORBI (talk) 18:28, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Middle Name
[edit]There have been some recent changes reflecting various middle names for the subject of the article. I cannot find a single source which provides me with a verifiable middle name; for example his tombstone, which can be viewed Here. Please provide a verifiable source if you intend to add or alter the individual's middle name. UBI-et-ORBI (talk) 13:06, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
- One source has been located in favor of the middle name "John." I have reverted my removal of the name and added the appropriate source material. UBI-et-ORBI (talk) 14:30, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]Someone please revise the "Collapse" portion. It is very bias.
In adding this entry, I have sought to lay out the essential elements of Evan Roberts life in as NPOV a manner as possible. I invite others to add to and edit this entry. I hope that they will honor the NPOV spirit in which it was created. --98Hooker 09:31, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. I have added my source material, and an external link which I found helpful as well. --98Hooker 09:31, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
This is not even remotely NPOV. It is so suffused with religion that I found it almost unreadable and content-free. Remember that people will read this who are not religious and will get nothing of value from anything to do with religious sentiment. Liam Proven (talk) 12:16, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
