Gone MIA
[edit]I'd like to see a mention of the Japanese reaction to the Potsdam Declaration, the mokusatsu (& clarification of its meaning), & Japanese efforts to get a surrender deal, brokered through the SU, beginning in April '45. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 08:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Thailand (Siam)
[edit]Did Japan have any other allies in the Far East other than Thailand (Siam)? Wikipedia has an article on Allied Commission which list what to most English speaking people will be a surprising number of Axis countries, all but one of them European. It would be helpful to expand the section on Thailand and any other allies to compare and contrast their treatment with that of the European states. -- PBS (talk) 11:39, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

MilHistBot assessment
[edit]- I agree with MilHistBot's assessment of B5=n The article still lacks an infobox although Heythereimaguy's addition of images improves this area. The lead is too short to meet the requirements of a lead paragraph (tag added). The "Prelude" and "Final Stages" sections are just chronologies and are covered in more detail in a table in Timeline of Axis surrenders in World War II
- @Lineagegeek: I have a question. What is meant by "infobox"? I do not believe there is an infobox for the end of wars, but please correct me if I am mistaken. Heythereimaguy (talk) 13:23, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Here is a link to [[Template:Infobox military conflict]], which would probably be the appropriate infobox to use for this article. Note that a lot of the entries are optional. --Lineagegeek (talk) 19:28, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Alright, I expanded the lead, but I think the things that are not Europe-related in "Prelude" and "Final stages" are necessary, especially the surrenders. Heythereimaguy (talk) 13:50, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- I disagree with MilHistBot's assessment of B2=y. I do not believe that the 2011 objections by trekphiler have been addressed, so B2=n.
- @Lineagegeek: I am currently working on the objections from trekphiler all the way back in 2011. Heythereimaguy (talk) 12:45, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Alright, I have added the information needed to the "Prelude" section. Heythereimaguy (talk) 13:17, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

- Heythereimaguy's edits have changed the proper rating to B1=y. --Lineagegeek (talk) 22:18, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- The current content is really Timeline of the end of World War II in Asia. Nick-D (talk) 22:39, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Heythereimaguy Nick-D I agree, but It should not take a lot of editing to make this a narrative article, with a paragraph in the Prelude on the surrender of the other major Axis powers (including dates) and a paragraph on the Soviet commitment to enter the war against Japan, including the conferences, their dates and results. --Lineagegeek (talk) 19:28, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Alright, I have done that. Heythereimaguy (talk) 01:52, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- If you can do something similar with the Final Stages and Aftermath, I think we have a winner! --Lineagegeek (talk) 19:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
