First sentence
[edit]Per WP:LEAD, the first sentence of the lead section should identify the most noteworthy context upfront. That context is the starring actor Will Smith, based on reliable sources headlining the actor. We are not required to name the director without the starring actor in the first sentence every time, especially when they are not household names or not being headlined. See User:Erik/Best practices#First sentences about films for more policy and guideline details. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 13:38, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Historical accuracy?
[edit]There were two Union assaults at Port Hudson - May 27 and June 14, 1863. Both were failures. The Union suffered a total of 3,787 casualties to the Confederates 282. They never reached the Confederate lines. How does the movie portray these actions? - Topcat777 18:37, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
- Not familiar with this film, but we have WP:FILMHIST to follow, and we can search for what reliable sources have written about how the film compares to history. A search query like emancipation will smith historical accuracy yields some results. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 20:18, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
Topcat777 - I too cannot see how this 'emancipation' movie has any actual historical context. Thus as such i find this kind of 'entertainment' offensive considering my mother was an actual white slave POW. In that sense i'd have my doubts any of the ultra privileged characters in this film have any cause to feel personally aggrieved & i object to the inference this film smears around. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7C:5ADC:8000:E8D9:A108:3C81:7897 (talk) 12:07, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

The genres right now are a mess
[edit]I’m sorry, but the genres cited at the moment are a bloatful. I think we should find out the genre people seem to call this film the most and stick with it. I’m thinking action seems to be the most cited, with survival thriller being the second, but I will be glad to work with other editors into getting this introductory article fixed. Timothy Hutton
[edit]Since i don't have Apple Tv+ can anybody who has watched this movie confirm if Timothy Hutton is actually in it? He's not listed on the film's IMDB page and a different actor is listed playing his part. I can not find any screenshots of him in the film either. I'm removing his name from this page unless someone who's seen the film can confirm he's in it. Jaydoggmarco (talk) 06:45, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
