Removing discussion of the book Human Accomplishment

[edit]

Per the discussions at Talk:Leonhard Euler and WikiProject Mathematics, I am removing the discussion of Charles Murray's Human Accomplishment from the body of the article, for the same basic reasons mentioned in the above discussions. Murray's work is primary research about a topic that Murray is is not a recognized expert. aprock (talk) 17:26, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is just one view regarding as it applies to Euler. See the discussion on the talk page for that article. Others have suggested that the book is an acceptable source but maybe not mention the book itself. How about that?Miradre (talk) 17:28, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the GameSpot Sidekick award

[edit]

I don't feel as though the deletion of this point was merited. Although it does not align well with his more prestigious honors, dismissing it as vandalism is rash. In today's day and age, publicity around this kind of award is nothing to scoff at, especially when its something that concerns appreciation of the youth to Einsteins obviously large contributions to science. I understand that it seems absurd, but I was serious when I added it to the list and I will defend my standpoint. Consider some of the other honors on this list, for instance, winning a gallup pole is not exactly the most scientific or lauded of achievements. The point isn't the relevance of the award, it's that it was bestowed in a somewhat respectable fashion. And I've never met the man, but from what I understand, I'd be willing to bet he'd appreciate the honor, even if it is a silly one.

So all that being said, I've reverted Steve Quinn's edit for the time being. I'd like to see some discussion concerning this before it's removed permanently. If references are necessary, I will find some, but for now we should iron this issue out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by THRILLMASTER (talkcontribs) 23:16, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't consider your adolescent humor humorous. If you carry on like this you risk being blocked for edit warring. Einstein died in 1955 so there is no way he could have won any kind of award in 2011. Therefore, your addition is a fiction. Whoever won the award it was not Albert Einstein. I am again removing your addition to this article. Also, please stop wasting my time and other editor's time. ---- Steve Quinn (talk) 06:08, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Einstein's awards and honorsList of awards and honors received by Albert Einstein – I think that the current title evinces an unencyclopedic familiarity, and is out of step with numerous other articles listing awards and honors received by specific recipients. Also, this is clearly a list. I expect some might object that it also includes awards named after Einstein rather than received by him, but I would contend that having an award named after you is itself an honor.
