Confusing text re his leaving parliament
[edit]In the career section it says "He quit Westminster in 1964 because of illness. Poor health and the low pay for MPs forced Leather to retire from Parliament at the 1964 general election and enter business." This seems a bit clumsy and confusing. The first sentence implies he left parliament solely for health reasons, but the very next sentence seems to contradict that by adding an additional reason - money (and by developing it further it arguably adds more weight to the financial issues importance as a factor). It also seems silly to state twice in a row that health was a factor in the departure. Unfortunately this text is not cited, so I am not sure which sentence is more accurate. However I am tempted to suggest merging to something like "Illness and the low pay for MPs saw Leather retire from Parliament at the 1964 general election and enter business." However I think a source to confirm this would be useful before making such a change. Dunarc (talk) 23:49, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
