Deleting history

Page Name

The company was not called "Foden Trucks" until it became a subsidiary of PACCAR in 1980. In view its long and distinguished history, an article name reflecting the greater part of its existence as an independent company might be more suitable. Just "Foden" or "Fodens" is probably not quite enough here, even though it seems to me the most probable search term, and there are more links to "Foden" than to "Foden Trucks". Company names were "Edwin Foden, Sons & Co. Ltd." and later "Fodens Ltd." but neither would really be compatible with WP:NCCORP. Reducing to "Edwin Foden, Sons & Co." would seem to comply, and is comparable with other members of Category:Steam_road_vehicle_manufacturing_companies, so I am proposing to move to that. I would support this, in which case the category should be restored to the Foden redirect to assist anyone searching via the category. Foden Trucks would remain as a redirect, also in an appropriate category.

This problem is even worse for Seddon Atkinson, since this 1970s-formed company never made any steam wagons (but Atkinson did) -- unfortunately there is currently insufficient bulk to split that article into the appropriate sub-articles.. EdJogg (talk) 23:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Compounding

Preserved S21 "Hoveringham" 8-wheel rigid

Found this pic while researching the S21 peacockery (edited away today). Beautiful restoration job.
