@Iazyges: cool! Thanks for carrying out the review in such a timely manner. I have amended the article according to each of your suggestions here. I hope that you find it suitable enough now to pass it as a GA article. Best wishes, Pericles of AthensTalk 14:38, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

I suggest we move it to "Early life of Cleopatra". True, there were 6 earlier Cleopatras, but they were obscure characters compared to the one we all know about. Her own article is simply "Cleopatra", so this one looks at first glance like it's about the early life of a different person. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:14, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@JackofOz: Well, if you can somehow get enough people to vote and form a consensus on the matter, then by all means, we can move the page. I don't think many people visit this article on a daily basis, though, and even less so the talk page. To be frank, I'm surprised you discovered this article at all! You from the guild of those copyeditors? I posted a link to this page over there recently. Pericles of AthensTalk 02:23, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I range far and wide, deep and high in my travels. I was thinking of just being bold and doing it. I might still do that. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 05:01, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JackofOz: if you're going to move both Early life of Cleopatra VII and Reign of Cleopatra VII, I would appreciate it if you would create a new section on the talk page for the main article Cleopatra, since that is where you will attract the most attention to this issue. Why don't you gather the opinions of other reviewers there first, before such a drastic move? Especially for articles that have obtained "Good Article" status. Pericles of AthensTalk 08:35, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JackofOz: to be honest, I'm not sure if we'll attract enough attention on the talk page about this, but you are not the first person to raise this issue as a formal complaint, so I think it's better to move the title now than to worry about it later when I submit this for FA status. I would rather avoid that sort of disaster during an FAC process! No one has objected to the idea here on the talk page about a potential move, so I will go ahead and move the article per your request. I have already done so for Reign of Cleopatra VII, which is now Reign of Cleopatra. Regards, Pericles of AthensTalk 11:21, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well done. Thank you, Pericles. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:43, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

This article recently went through an FAC nomination that was closed within weeks. Perhaps the now retired PericlesofAthens (who still does make edits on a less frequent basis) should be co-nominator of the article. But I wish to hear your opinions, Pericles and FunkMonk, and those of anyone else who might have something to helpfully comment about the article. Векочел (talk) 05:24, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be up to the main writers to decide what to so with this. FunkMonk (talk) 09:04, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why ruling dates in the lead instead of life dates?

[edit]

This article is about her early life, yet her ruling dates from 51 BC to 30 BC are listed right next to her name, to me this comes of as potentially confusing, I would not be surprised if many readers just glanced and assumed that the dates refered to her early life. ★Trekker (talk) 10:17, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@StarTrekker Thanks for pointing that out. Would you rather I change it to her life dates, of her early life dates? Unlimitedlead (talk) 10:44, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Unlimitedlead: Yes I think putting the dates for the period covered in the article or her entire life would be more prudent. Thank you for your swift reply!★Trekker (talk) 11:44, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just realized that her early life dates are already in the first sentence, so stating them twice might be redundant. Unlimitedlead (talk) 12:36, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
